Art in the Park is back!

After being rained and snowed out, all the gifted artists and crafters will be at Buckley Park this Saturday displaying their wide variety of arts & crafts. Come on down and have a look at what talented local artists we have in this area!
While you’re at it, check out these two vendors who aren’t exactly artists or crafters, but are very important to Art in the Park.
- Goodman’s Art Bin – For a truly impressive collection of all the materials you’ll need to create something wonderful as an artist, check them out at the Arts & Crafts Market this weekend, or visit them at their store on College Drive just east of 2nd avenue. You will be impressed at the selection of art supplies they stock! Goodman’s Art Bin - 970-382-2588.
- Pure Soul Coffee Company – We are so lucky to have such an excellent coffee company at the ACMD! Be sure and drop in on their booth and enjoy some yummy beverages. And, get a punch-card so you can get a free cup after visiting them at the ACMD or their store at 40 Town Plaza right near Baskin & Robbins. Pure Soul Coffee Company - 970-259-5499.

Now, for the most Frequently Asked Question we get from Artists: “Do you still have booths available?”
Answer: At this moment, there are spaces available. It’s suggested that you secure the Saturdays you want to sell well in advance to ensure availability and, of course to save money.

Opening Day at Buckley Park - May 10th, 2008. It's Mothers Day Weekend!

Yes, it is Mothers Day Weekend already! What a wonderful time to visit the ACMD at Buckley Park for some truly special Mothers Day gifts. Artists have created gift items just for this occasion. Many will be offering Mothers Days Specials, so you can save money while buying a one-of-a-kind item for that special mom in your life.

Perhaps best of all, all your purchases at the ACMD during 2008 benefit a local charity. The month of May is Habitat for Humanity.

You need more art in your life, right? This is a great opportunity to get something nice for mom, help Habitat for Humanity, and of course enrich your life with a locally created work of art.

KDUR Radio Interview

The ACMD was interviewed by Gigi Duthie of KDUR radio on her radio program called "Four Corners Art Forum" last Monday April 21st.

If you wanted to listen, Click Here. You will then click on "April 21- featuring our local art market!"

Lots of topics were covered that will benefit artists and art lovers alike. Take a few minutes and have a listen.

Wanted: Food Vendor & Musicians

We are lining up non-art vendors, to make the “Art in the Park” experience more fun for visitors to the market. We have coffee and beverages taken care of.

Now, we want a food vendor and more musicians.

Some musicians are signed up already, but we have plenty of room for more. So, if you are one, or know a musician or band that wants to play in front of a live audience in an outdoor setting, please have them contact us.

Food vendors would do well just by being there with some breakfast food for us vendors! Most of us arrive with enough time to get set up by 9:00 am, but don’t eat before we leave home. Foot traffic for the market last year was from 400 to 500 people on a good day. We expect an increase in visitors given the much improved location, and better marketing this year.

Pure Soul Coffee at
Art in the Park

We are happy to announce that Pure Soul will be our coffee company at the ACMD at Buckley Park this year. They will be selling coffees, lattes, teas, including chai teas and iced teas, bottled water, and any other beverage that strikes their fancy.

We are asking that all vendors & art lovers alike support Pure Soul and if you drink coffee or tea early in the morning, please get it from them. If you’re near Town Plaza and are thirsty, drop in at their store.

(Announcement of 5 March 2008)

The ACMD has a new home!
We enjoyed our time at Albertsons, but greener pastures await.

We are pleased to announce that for this entire year our new home will be Buckley Park, located on Main Avenue at 12th Street, Durango, Colorado. Our new location brings plenty of advantages to the artist/vendors.

  1. Better visibility
  2. Better accessibility
  3. We will set up on grass, rather than pavement
  4. Electricity is available
  5. Ample parking
  6. We will have a stage and live music
  7. The park is ours all day, so our new hours are from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Artists, prepare yourselves for an excellent year. That’s all I can say.

Download the Application and Rules & Regulations Forms.

"The artist is a receptacle for emotions that come from all over the place; from the sky, from the earth, from a scrap of paper, from a passing shape, from a spider’s web."
~ Pablo Picasso ~
